Ashanti is the exciting and intoxicating new album from composer and guitarist Sabino de Bari and introduces a new quartet of exceptional musicians to bring the music to life. Featuring acoustic guitar alongside the double bass of Andrea Colella, Francesco De Rubeis on drums and percussion and bass clarinettist Luciano Orologi, de Bari has created a quartet with a unique flavour combining his Mediterranean heritage and jazz.

Steeped in Mediterranean folklore, classical composition and jazz, the album is a compelling work that tells in music the story of a fictitious child named Ashanti who de Bari says “faces a long journey in search of a place where there
are no wars and hunger”. The music also seeks to reaffirm and reclaim the Mediterranean as a great advocate for the meeting of multiple cultures, and enabling of a great European culture in contrast to the social meaning it has nowadays where the Mediterranean becomes a cultural barrier which manifests itself in the rejection of other cultures.
